For our projection mapping project, I want to create a “garden of potted humans”. What I mean by this is I want to use 3 different potted plants as props for my projection to be mapped onto. The video will first show just the pots, with a human form laying inside of them. Then the humans crawl out of the pot, with their body projected on the leaves, and their feet in the pots. Somehow, I think I want to portray the feet turning into roots.
Another idea of the video I have is to project on the leaves a human eye, looking around and taking in the audience.
The video will end with the human squeezing back into the pot, folding themselves into a crouching position, growing smaller to look like a seed. Then the pots will fade into different colors showing the outside of the pot.
I think some challenges with this project will firstly be finding the right leafy plants to project the map onto. Also, depending on the hue of green the plant is, I might have to consider painting the plant itself white in order for the video to show. I think I'll go to some plant stores and see if I can find cheap white pots that I can use as props. Another challenge will be to create the actual video. I think for the project I want to use 3 different people for each pot. I think I will also see if I can have the models for the videos in bikinis or boxers, in order to show the more human aspect of this idea. I think I will also edit the videos to be in black and white, to make the projection itself more visually aesthetic and appealing to the eye.
